HB 639 as amended by the House Retirement
Committee passed out of House Rules Committee this morning and
will go to the House floor for a vote Tuesday, March 4th.
This was originally a retirement bill by
Chuck Sims to increase the retirement benefits for parole
officers to a 3% multiplier. However, the bill was amended in
the Retirement Committee to allow the parole officers to have
the same retirement benefits as others already on the state law
enforcement officers retirement plan.
As amended, HB 639 will allow parole officers
to retire at age 55 with at least 10 years of creditable
service. Please call or email your state representative and ask
them to support HB 639.
